CaseStudy 48 - Trenchless rehabilitation with SIMONA® PE 100 Ovoid Pipes using the relining method Brochures

Over a total length of 580 m an ovoid sewer was renewed by means of the relining method as part of an external services development project for Göttingen University Medical Centre. SIMONA® PE Ovoid Pipes combine geometric benefits – high flow velocity for small quantities of water, improved discharge of large quantities of water – with the excellent material and processing properties of polyethylene.

The customer-specific solution of using an ovoid pipe without any base enabled a high pipelaying rate and thus led to rapid completion of the construction project.

The Water Utilities Association of Untere Niddatal decided to renew a local elevated water tank in order to maintain the quality of drinking water well into the future. The creation of new pitches for beach volleyball and football was at the top of the list when it came to expanding the range of leisure facilities on offer at BUGLA Aqua Park. The challenge consisted of incorporating the fields within the developed segment of the facility, while separating them from the green areas and five swimming pools. CaseStudy 17 - Pickling line made of SIMONA® PP-DWU AlphaPlus® delivered to Rasselstein GmbH Brochures

The entire process section of the sulphuric acid hot-strip pickling line at Rasselstein GmbH in Andernach, one of the largest tinplate manufacturers in the world, had to be rebuilt. Kunststoffbau Langschede GmbH convinced Rasselstein that SIMONA® PP-DWU AlphaPlus® was the material of choice. As part of the overall design process, the structural parameters as well as the expansion and connections of the various pickling tanks had to be taken into account. An essential prerequisite: top-quality materials. The use of highend measurement technology, including 3D laser scanning, for the purpose of implementing the new process element within existing plant structures provided the basis for efficient assembly within just 20 days.

In 2006, the Hungarian company MULTILATERAL KFT. awarded TÜRK-MŰANYAG BT. a contract to manufacture a polymer-based processing tank for mobile phone batteries – to be operated with 10 % hydrochloric acid at a temperature of 80 °C. Owing to the highly corrosive medium, the relatively high processing temperature and the abrasive properties of the ground material, SIMONA® PVDF was chosen in collaboration with the SIMONA AG Technical Service Centre and UMUNDUM BT. in order to be able to run the process at even higher temperatures if necessary.

CaseStudy 06 - Pipe connection made simple – with integral electrofusion joints Brochures

In the course of a road renewal, Idar-Oberstein town council repaired a worn-out reinforced concrete waste-water line by applying a partially open-trench method. Using SIMONA® PE 100 pipe modules SIMOFUSE® with integral electrofusion joints and SIMONA® PE 80 external saddles SIMOFUSE® for service pipe connection, a pipe system was installed that will remain functional well into the future. PE 100 pipe modules SIMOFUSE® were used for the repair. The old concrete pipe was broken open locally in the connection area and three-metrelong PE 100 pipe modules SIMOFUSE® were pushed into the old pipe.

During the course of a road reconstruction project, the Idar-Oberstein Town Council repaired a defective reinforced concrete sewer using the partial open-trench method. Thanks to the use of SIMONA® PE 100 pipe modules SIMOFUSE® and SIMONA® PE 80 external saddles SIMOFUSE®, it was possible to lay an absolutely tight and abrasion-resistant pipe system that would remain operational in the long term. SIMONA® PE 100 pipe modules SIMOFUSE® with integral electrofusion joints were welded together and inserted into the old pipe, without interfering socket structures.

ProjectReport 17 - Flue Gas Desulphurisation with SIMONA® PP-H 100 AlphaPlus Pipes Brochures

Owing to the high load of combustion gases on the fluegas desulphurisation plant in Niederaussem, RWE Energie AG decided on renovation. On account of corrosion the rubber-lined steel pipes generally have a service life of 5 to 8 years. For this reason a search was conducted for material which would be able to replace the rubber-lined steel pipes previously used as blast lances. The new material would have to have a longer service life and ensure a high degree of operational reliability, and thus reduce running costs. Therefore RWE Energie AG decided in favour of SIMONA® PP-H 100 AlphaPlus – a material which meets all the criteria.
