Automotive
Brimming with good ideas

Extruded SIMONA® PE multilayer sheets are suitable for downstream processing by means of the twin-sheet method for subsequent use in the automotive industry, e.g. for fuel tanks.

  • Best possible positioning of components (supply unit and level sensors) in the tank for a lower risk of leakage
  • Compliance with global emission standards

The material mix of polyethylene and a barrier layer of EVOH unlocks new design possibilities for fuel tanks used in the storage and transport of liquids. Due to their excellent barrier properties, they are also perfect for the manufacture of state-of-the-art gas tanks.

  • Outstanding barrier effect against gases and liquids
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Excellent toughness and deep drawing properties as well as good degree of stiffness
  • Operating temperature range from -50 °C to +80 °C
  • Machine-weldable without loss of barrier effect
  • Excellent value for money
  • Lighter than conventional metal tanks
  • Choice of more complex tank geometries with uniform wall thickness distribution

On track with SIMORAIL

In 2016, a new standard for fire protection in rail vehicles, DIN EN 45545-2, was introduced. SIMONA develops thermoplastic sheets for rail vehicle interiors (e.g. for seats, luggage racks) that meet these new requirements.

Use of the thermoplastic material SIMORAIL has unlocked new possibilities when it comes to recycling, complemented by improved processing options and greater freedom of design.

  • Sustainability (recyclability)
  • Lightweight solution
  • Freedom of design
  • SIMORAIL HL2+ (polycarbonate)
  • SIMORAIL HL3 (polycarbonate)
  • SIMORAIL HL3/R6 (polypropylene)
  • SIMORAIL AG (base material with protective anti-graffiti layer; higher chemical and UV resistance)

Environmentally friendly, functional, aesthetic: 9865 TERREFORM™ for aircraft interior components

SIMONA Boltaron developed 9865 TERREFORM™, a recycled material for aircraft interiors.

Big plus: it meets the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry in terms of flammability, heat generation and smoke release.

SIMONA Boltaron offers a wider choice of material thicknesses, capacities and decorative embossing at a more competitive price.

While 9865 Terreform is available in only one color and texture, Boltaron’s extensive range of aircraft-approved grades sheets are available in the industry’s widest selection of extruded and pressed textures.

  • Product meets Federal Aviation Administration regulations listed in FAR 25.853 (a) and (d) for interior parts
  • With highly functional and aesthetic properties, many designs are possible for surface finishing and decorative effects
  • Thermoformable
  • Recyclable
  • Chemical resistance and cleanability
  • High impact resistance and durability
