Staff were encouraged to join in the SIMOFIT programme, which took place on 3 and 11 September 2018. At various locations in Kirn, employees were invited to take advantage of numerous measures aimed at promoting balanced nutrition, health and well-being.

Offers included measurements of blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and body fat along with advice on a balanced diet. Employees could also take an eye test, get typed-tested for bone marrow donations and volunteer for cardio scans to check their heart function.

This year, SIMONA was supported by Kirn-based pharmacies (Markt Apotheke and Die Neue Apotheke), Heilmann Augenoptik and the Stefan-Morsch foundation as well as the company doctor and the AOK for Rhineland Palatinate/Saarland.

Many stands supplied health-related information to staff members, while the competition proved to be a highlight. Since the start of the year, SIMONA has also been providing its employees with free fresh fruit on a daily basis. To enter the competition, participants were asked to estimate how much fruit had been handed out in total since the campaign began. The six entrants who came closest to guessing the exact figure of 3,609.98 kg each won a prize: the winner was given a wellness voucher, two runners-up received sports equipment vouchers and the three third-place finishers claimed breakfast vouchers.

SIMONA Health Days, an annual event that elicits highly positive feedback from all involved, is part of an initiative promoting health in the workplace agreed in 2016 between SIMONA AG and the AOK for Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland. The aim of the corporate health project is to identify sources of health risk and stress, and to develop and implement specific measures to reduce these factors. Numerous projects have been undertaken in partnership with the AOK in recent years: alongside the Health Days event, these have included courses based on running, preventing back pain and giving up smoking.
