The Industry business line brings together far-reaching expertise relating to various industrial applications, such as the chemical process or semiconductor industries. This wealth of expertise is now to be further extended at ACHEMA Frankfurt – by engaging in a close dialogue with industry experts and qualified end users of thermoplastic semi-finished products and piping systems.

As regards products, the focus here will be on the company‘s wide range of sheets made of high-performance fluoroplastics, which offer maximum safety even under the most demanding conditions.

When it comes to fire protection, for example, these credentials are underpinned by Factory Mutual (FM) certification. SIMONA® CRP-1 (PVC) and FRP-3 (PP) sheets and welding rods as well as a transparent PVC version are among the semi-finished products listed by Factory Mutual in accordance with FM 4910 for enhanced protection against damage in the event of fire in cleanrooms. This makes them predestined for applications in cleanroom engineering, the semiconductor industry and the pharmaceutical sector. Among the key features of this material is the excellent resistance to most chemical media as well as corrosive gases such as flue gas. This is complemented by sheets and welding rods as well as hollow and solid rods within the extensive range of FM-listed semi-finished products made of SIMONA® PVDF. The business line also offers a wide range of pipes and fittings made of PVDF and PP.

In composite structures and as linings, SIMONA® liner materials made of fluoroplastics provide a high level of safety for the storage and transport of chemically aggressive media. Lamination provides the optimum mechanical bridge between the inner material and the supporting material to be protected against corrosion.

The portfolio of liner materials has now been extended to include SIMONA® PVDF-NK and SIMONA® ECTFE-NK. Due to its excellent chemical resistance to the permeating chemicals hydrofluoric acid (HF) and hydrochloric acid (HC), the new polyacrylonitrile-based laminate (PAN) used in this area is particularly suitable for acid-bearing composite constructions. The new PAN adhesion promoter and the SIMONA® PVDF-NK and SIMONA® ECTFE-NK liner materials thus perfectly complement the portfolio for applications between the polyester- and glass-fibre- or aramid-based laminates used to date.
