With our SIMORAIL family, we have developed a range of high-performance thermoplastic sheets designed to provide maximum safety, weight savings, and long-term durability for the interior of passenger vehicles. The products combine the benefits of simple handling and superior thermoformability with the merits of multiple design options that will transform the interior of your vehicles into a genuine eye-catcher. Specially developed to meet the exact requirements of all major global industry standards including EN 45545-2 and the US standard NFPA 130, our low-flammability SIMORAIL sheets also offer maximum safety in the area of fire protection.

SIMORAIL sheets are designed to replace metals and glass-reinforced plastics through lower weight, recyclability, and improved aesthetics. In addition to meeting stringent specifications for smoke, flame spread, toxicity and heat release, SIMORAIL sheets offer good impact resistance and extreme thermoformability in a broad range of custom colors, textures and formats.

Our SIMORAIL sheets are certified in accordance with EN 45545-2. The standard was developed on the basis of existing fire protection regulations for rail vehicles issued by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and various European countries. It defines consistent pan-European fire protection requirements for materials to be used in rail vehicles. The standard defines three different hazard levels (HL) as well as test procedures and test requirements for materials used according to the respective hazard level (R requirement sets).

SIMORAIL HL2 meets the requirements of HL2 for R1, which covers approx. 80% of the interior components used in the rail transport sector. SIMORAIL HL3, our premium product, meets the requirements of the highest hazard level HL3, which applies to rail vehicles such as sleeping cars, for example. Both products also comply with NFPA 130, Boeing BSS7239 and Bombardier SMP800C, the most common North American standards.

SIMORAIL products are manufactured under closely monitored conditions to ensure consistently high quality. The sheets have excellent physical and mechanical properties, complemented by an outstanding surface finish throughout their service life. What is more, they can be easily thermoformed to create even the most intricate components.

Our SIMORAIL product family offers endless possibilities for the design of vehicle interiors. The sheets can be produced in almost any colour and in various textures and, as a through-coloured material, offer clear advantages with regard to the visibility of scratches  no need for time-consuming coatings of any kind. Working in collaboration with selected partners, sheets can also be customised with individual designs and decors, such as a woodstyle appearance. Laminated SIMORAIL sheets are covered with a chemically and UV-resistant film with an anti-graffiti effect that allows easy cleaning. This can significantly reduce maintenance and restoration costs.

We love plastics. And our environment.

Our SIMORAIL sheets make a valuable contribution to the conservation of resources by replacing heavier materials such as metal or glass fibre-reinforced plastics and thereby reducing CO2 emissions.

Thanks to their special property profile, SIMORAIL sheets also have a particularly long service life and can be fully recycled.

Another key advantage of SIMONA's closed-loop process is that waste from the supply chain can be taken back and reused in production.

In addition, SIMONA has partnered with Satto Solutions and Cabinair Services to develop sustainable repair systems to have a favourable impact on servicing intervals and the long-term cost structure of the product. For more information please visit: https://satto.aero/.
